1. Why take the TOEIC® test?

TOEIC® stands for Test Of English for International CommunicationTM.
It is a business-focused test while the TOEFL® test is an academic one.
The TOEIC® test is the international standard recognized by professionals. Nowadays recruiters ask for a TOEIC® score on applicants’s resumes. 5 million people take the test each year all around the world.
It is a 2-hour paper-based exam that contains 2 main parts and a total of 200 questions. On the one hand, the listening and on the other hand, the reading.
The Listening and Reading parts are divided into 7 different sections (which are developed in Test Simulator):

Today, in a business environment the TOEIC® test is the reference across the globe. You can either prepare for it within a traditional language course or directly with Test Simulator. Universities, language schools and training institutes are preparing students for the TOEIC® test either during their initial education or through their continuing education. The TOEIC® score is valid for 2 years but it is possible to take it as many times as wanted to improve the score (For example in Japan people take the TOEIC® test 7 times on average)
2. What is Test Simulator and how does it prepare for the TOEIC® test?

Edulang does not pretend to improve candidates’ level of English through Test Simulator. Our goal is to improve their employment capabilities by being well prepared before taking the TOEIC® test to optimise their score. To increase their chances to find a job, people have to have a fairly good level of English to communicate wherever they are. The TOEIC® test measures your level of English and Test Simulator prepares to the latest version of the TOEIC® test. We have reproduced through Test Simulator the real test conditions before taking the TOEIC® test. That is why we have chosen the name Test Simulator. It is the same for pilots who also train with a flight simulator before take-off. The objective is to have the good reflexes. Test Simulator evaluates and helps prepare the followings: - Question type - Vocabulary type - Comprehension of the test structure - Time management - Stress management
3. What type of English is used in Test Simulator and in the TOEIC® test?

International English, which is used for the day-to-day international communication. It is actually the reference language in the world. In Test Simulator and in the TOEIC® test four different accents are being used : British, American, Canadian and Australian.
4. Why doesn’t Test Simulator give a score?

The TOEIC® score varies between 0 and 990. Each question has its own weight. The weight is defined by hundreds of R&D staff members who are working for ETS in Princeton, New Jersey USA. This is why Edulang doesn’t want to give a score that wouldn’t faithfully represent the real TOEIC® score. Test Simulator indicates the percentage of right answers and allows to find out about the right and wrong answers through feedbacks.
5. How to use Test Simulator?

Test Simulator can be used as part of a traditional training with a student tracking tool that allows the teacher to keep an eye on the work of a student or a class. Or if you are in a hurry – if you only have a few days before taking the test - Test Simulator helps you get all the chances on your side to be well prepared for the TOEIC® test.
6. Can Test Simulator replace an English course?

Neither grammar nor vocabulary lessons are given within Test Simulator. It is a simulation of the real test. Your answers are explained but Test Simulator is by no means a replacement tool to an English course.
